In November, 2019 eight large scale #NRNY Murals made their debut around downtown New Rochelle. Created by an international group of street artists curated by Street Art for Mankind, the #NRNY Murals – a collaboration between the City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Council on the Arts – made a statement about New Rochelle as a diverse city where art plays a pivotal role. The #NRNY Murals received media coverage around the world.
In 2022 the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, the City of New Rochelle’s IDA and curators Street Art for Mankind — with support from ArtsWestchester — completed phase two of the project, with 12 additional murals. Once again a group of world class artists visited New Rochelle to create high impact art that has put the city on the map for its eye-popping curated collection of large scale murals.
