Statue of E.L. Doctorow
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts was the lead agency in the effort to erect the statue of E.L. Doctorow that was installed at Huguenot Park on October 13, 2023. E. L. Doctorow, one of the most important novelists of the 20th century -- and a man who made his home in New Rochelle for many years – passed away in 2015. NRNY Murals
In November, 2019 eight large scale #NRNY Murals made their debut around downtown New Rochelle. Created by an international group of street artists curated by Street Art for Mankind, the #NRNY Murals – a collaboration between the City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Council on the Arts – made a statement about New Rochelle as a diverse city where art plays a pivotal role. The #NRNY Murals received media coverage around the world. In 2022 the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, the City of New Rochelle’s IDA and curators Street Art for Mankind — with support from ArtsWestchester — completed phase two of the project, with 12 additional murals.
