Letter from The President for September 2018

Dear NRCA Members-

Despite a rainier-than-usual summer we hope you enjoyed our fabulous Summer Concert season! A special thank you to our sponsors, Webster Bank and People’s United Bank, as well as our lighting sponsor Watermark Pointe.  And congratulations to our hard working Summer Concert committee, led by Billie Tucker: Barbara Bock, Margaret Chadwick, Michael Dandry, Laura Falb, Dianne Flagello, Melissa Panszi-Riebe, Anthony Paolercio, David Paterson and Bill Zimmerman of Parks & Rec.

Coming soon: Our new public art project, “Pop Up Libraries.” Selected artists were given the same kiosks to design, and their finished Pop Up Libraries will be filled with books provided by local volunteer organizations and installed at public park sites around the city this month – including a very special installation by pop artist Charles Fazzino.

And in October ArtsFest 2018 will take place October 19th through 21st. If you are an artist or venue who wants to participate  — or if you are a business who wants to be an ArtsFest  sponsor — please contact us at info@newrochellearts.org THIS WEEK.

And watch for your invitation to our spectacular Spotlight Gala, kicking off ArtsFest weekend on Thursday, October 18th. We will be honoring some outstanding New Rochelle artists and art lovers with an evening of mingling and mixing at Wykagyl Country Club, with cocktails, a buffet dinner, silent auction, a surprise performance by a Broadway actor, and dancing. Our emcee will be film and TV actor Chance Kelly, and we will be honoring Tony Award winning Musical Director Ted Sperling (Light in the Piazza, South Pacific), Watermark Pointe developer Jerry Bermingham, past Executive Director of the Pelham Arts Center Lynn Honeysett, arts philanthropists the Kathwari Family and NRCA founding board membersDianne Flagello and Laura Falb. Join us for a great evening that will raise money to help NRCA continue its work!

Best,
Theresa Kump Leghorn
President
