Timeline PhotosOh, the water lilies. 🌸 Born #onthisday in 1840, Claude #Monet, a passionate horticulturist, purchased land with a pond near his property in Giverny in 1893. He intended to build something "for the pleasure of the eye and also for motifs to paint." The result was his now-iconic water-lily garden. ⁣

Creating a giant mural on a blank brick or stuccoed wall is no easy feat...but New Rochelle now has 8 fabulous new works of art that depict themes relative to our community: past, present and future. These amazing works of art came to be in a matter of weeks -- and sometimes even days. Join us at a very special cocktail party fundraiser on Thursday, November 21st to learn how this came to be, by hearing from the folks who made it happen, Audrey and Thibault Decker of Street Art for Mankind. Whether or not you've seen the murals in person, it is guaranteed to be a unique and memorable evening. Enjoy wine, beer and nibbles from 6 to 8 pm at the studio of Charles Fazzino, who will give us a sneak peek at his own upcoming mural for Downtown New Rochelle. Tickets cost $60 per person and proceeds from the event will help us continue the #NRNYMurals project with a new round of artwork in the spring. ATTENDANCE IS STRICTLY LIMITED....SO DON'T DELAY. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. Go to newrochellearts.org/nrny-murals-cocktail-party/ for tickets today. ... See MoreSee Less
