Unapologetically Me

August 30 - September 30

The virtual exhibit “Unapologetically Me: A Response by Alvin Clayton” continues this month through September 30th. Presented jointly by Iona College’s Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery and the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, the exhibit features striking paintings created by artist Alvin Clayton in response to the murder of George Floyd and the international wave of support for the Black Lives Matter movement. The virtual format, created by photographer/filmmaker Nick Carter, juxtaposes Clayton’s work with interviews of the artist, who says this new work took him out of his comfort zone: “For too long my feelings have stayed silent,” he says, adding “This is how I see things. This is my pain. This is me letting my voice be heard.”
