It's that time again: The MAC's Free Summer Film Series starts this week! This summer the theme is dance, to tie in to the MAC's exciting summer exhibit "Harlem? Harlem! Dance Theatre of Harlem 1969-2010." Come early at 7 pm to see the exhibit, then stay to enjoy classic films about dance in the Linda Kelly Theatre at 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings in July and August .

The Turning Point (1977) stars Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft as dancers and former best friends who become rivals over a young ballerina's career. The film also features ballet superstar Mikhail Baryshnikov in his screen debut as a womanizing dancer. Written by Arthur Laurents (The Way We Were, West Side Story) and directed by Herb Ross (Steel Magnolias, Footloose) The Turning Point was nominated for 11 Academy Awards.
